Mini Vehicles Recalled by Green Toys

Roughly 53,000 units of toy Mini Vehicles are being recalled by Green Toys throughout the United States and Canada. Marketed for use by toddlers, the cars are made of plastic and available in yellow, green, red, white, and blue. The cars cost about $5 each or $18 for the set.The reported hazard involves the potential for wheels and hubcaps to detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. Green Toys has received at least 10 reports of wheels and hubcaps detaching or loosening from the vehicles.

Consumers should never assume that toys are safe merely because they are being sold on retail shelves. Although design and testing protocols exist, they can be inadequate. Moreover, oversight for the manufacturing process can be lax, especially for children’s products made overseas. Shoppers should be educated about the types of hazards that can still be found, including but not limited to small parts, long cords, electrical hazards, and projectiles.
